2004 Golden Olive Awards Competition - enter now!

The Golden Olive Awards for 2004 are about to kick off ;

With competition in

· Extra Virgin Olive Oil Classes,

· Table Fruit Classes and

· Packaging Classes.

The culmination of competition this year will be on Saturday 9th October 2004 in
Myrtleford - The Golden Olive Awards Dinner

The Competition

Download your competition entry forms from our web site which is
www.vicolives.com or from Micheal Freudenstein Ph. 03 5753 5318 or Colin and
Elisa Bertuch Ph. 03 5756 2143. (Note: Micheal will be away until 23/8/04)

All members who entered oil last year will automatically receive their entry
kits in the mail. If you require additional kits or did not enter oil last year
you should contact Elisa/Colin or Micheal for kits.

Oil entries this year are to be submitted in bottles provided by OGNEV.

Entries in table fruit and packaging just need the entry form.

Entries can be posted or hand delivered. Details are on the conditions of entry
form. Entries must be received by 5.00pm 10th September 2004.

You can also drop your entries into Sue Hutchens at Benalla.

To Harrison, Dobson & Cottrill. 2 Bridge St Benalla. (Opp. Post Office)

Judging

Entry fees for the oil classes this year include the cost of a Free Fatty Acid
Test at an accredited lab. Judging will be by an organoleptic panel from Charles
Sturt University and supervised by Dr. Rod Mailer and Mr. Peter Olson from NSW
Dept. Primary Industries. Reports will be available to entrants after the
competition.

The table fruit will be judged by Professor Stan Kailis from the university of
WA and the packaging will be judged by Adam Gardiner and Janine Wurfull from
Qube Konstrukt

This level of judging is a real coup for us and will enhance the credibility of
the Golden Olive Awards within the industry and ensure that our competition is
recognized as affordable and credible to all levels of producers across
Australia.

The Finale

The weekend of the 8th, 9th and 10th of October 2004 will be spectacular.

Olive Producers NE Vic. this year combine with the Allegro International Food

Features of the weekend will be the Bud Burst Ball on Friday night hosted by the
Alpine Valley Vignerons.

The Sunday will feature a Petanque Chalenge at Gapsted winery and a pasta finale
at the Savoy Sporting and Social Club.

These venues offer us an enormous opportunity to showcase our wonderful
products. So Produce, Participate, Partake and Reap. (I was never good at
alliteration).
