The 2006 York Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition is intended to highlight the best extra virgin olive oils from around Australia by publicising the efforts of producers striving for excellence in the production of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. It also provides an opportunity for growers to benchmark their oils against other producers.
The Chief Judge will be Margaret Kirkby, one of Australia’s most experienced olive oil tasters, and a foundation member of the Australian Olive Association’s internationally accredited Olive Oil Tasting Panel. Margaret will be assisted by judges from the West Australian Olive Council’s experienced tasting group that judge the Perth Royal Show Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition.
The competition is open to all Extra Virgin Olive Oils made from fruit grown only in Australia. The rule limiting entries to Western Australian oils no longer applies. Entries close on Saturday 10 June 2006 and the awards dinner will be held on 23 June 2006.
